Your team administers anesthesia as necessary and brings the patient out to the scanner.

Scanning takes about 10 minutes. Then the patient returns to your exam room to recover.

View the images immediately. A board-certified veterinary radiologist interprets the images. You receive the full radiology report usually the same day — electronically, automatically and confidentially.

Questions vets ask
The practical questions, answered plainly.
- How long does a CT scan take at my practice?
- About ten minutes on the scanner for a typical study. Allow twenty to thirty minutes per patient including induction, positioning and recovery hand-off. A half-day block comfortably covers six to eight patients.
- Do I need to refer the patient to a specialty center?
- No. That is the point. The scanner comes to your parking lot, your team anesthetizes the patient, and the images are read remotely by a board-certified veterinary radiologist. The client never leaves your practice.
- Who reads the images?
- A board-certified veterinary radiologist. You receive a written report electronically, usually the same day. The interpretation is theirs; the clinical decisions stay with you.
- What does it cost my practice, and what do I charge the owner?
- Rover invoices your practice per scan, at a rate that depends on how much notice you give. You set your own fee to the owner. Register and your portal shows the current rates and the suggested owner fee side by side. There is no equipment cost, no lease and no minimum.
- What animals and body regions can be scanned?
- Dogs and cats of all sizes, and most small mammals. Head, neck, thorax, abdomen, spine and limbs; whole-body studies are routine. Contrast studies are available.
- Does the patient need general anesthesia?
- Yes — CT requires the patient to be still for the acquisition. Your team handles anesthesia or heavy sedation under your own protocols; Rover does not sedate patients.
- How far in advance do I need to book?
- Scheduled days are opened in your county a few weeks ahead and you book one from the portal. Urgent cases can be requested for the same or next day; those carry a higher rate because the van reroutes for them.
- Where does Rover CT operate?
- Northern New Jersey, one county at a time, starting in Essex and Bergen. Register even if we are not in your county yet: if we are not fully booked we will come to you, and we will tell you straight away whether we can reach you. That is also how we decide where to open next.
